Welcome!
Welcome to the RMPS department at Paisley Grammar School. As a department we offer a broad variety of courses throughout BGE and Senior Phase from religion, to big questions about the world, ethical dilemmas, and everything else in between. We believe that these subjects are an important aspect of a well rounded education as pupils curate and build upon numerous skills which will benefit them later in life. As well as this, RMPS allows pupils the time to engage and understand different cultures and belief systems, ensuring that they are able to model the school values: respect, compassion, and integrity.
Have a look around the site, and please do get in touch if you would like to know anything else. We love a good philosophical chat!

Our Vision and Values
Our vision is to help pupils reflect on their beliefs and values in order that they are prepared to face the challenges of living in a culturally diverse country. While doing this the young people will develop their higher order thinking skills as they learn about both religious and non-religious views about the world.
Our values are driven by the basic philosophical idea that all humans have equal worth no matter their background, race, religion or gender. We want to promote this value by encouraging the young people to respect all people's religious and non-religious beliefs and values.

RMPS and Philosophy are distinct subjects that allow pupil to develop their knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of philosophical ideas, beliefs systems and ethical viewpoints. Pupils develop critical and analytical skills which are required to address daily challenges, but are also important aspects of many job profiles and is something in which many employers value.
As we explore different cultures, moral stances and big questions, pupils are equipped with the skills required to become a well mannered member of society. Religion is one of the most intellectually challenging and personally stimulating fields of study, with its traditions continuously developing through time. By studying these traditions, pupils become more aware of their surroundings and the people in them, contributing to their acceptance of different beliefs, cultures and stances within the world. With diversity and acceptance at its core, RMPS and Philosophy are unique to the curriculum.
Watch the videos below, which shows a range of careers and why RMPS helped these get to where they are now.
